Plan the main image first

Use the MAIN slot to show the actual item, with the correct colour and quantity. Review the white-background and product-framing rules in Seller Central. Keep the full item visible; do not add props that could imply extra items are included. Added promotional overlays are different from a label physically on the garment.

Choose the correct clothing presentation

The current US guide calls for a model for adult-size clothing and flat presentation for clothing accessories or multipacks. It excludes visible mannequins and hangers from MAIN images. It also gives separate flat-only rules for children's and baby undergarments, swimwear and similar form-fitting items. A ghost mannequin effect is not blanket permission to replace an adult clothing model image.

Build a useful supporting photo set

Plan each image around a buyer question: what is the back like, how does the fabric drape, what closes the garment, and what is included? Photograph the actual front, back, fabric and closures. Keep each colour variant matched to the correct listing.

Show the real seam layout, neckline, hem and sleeve length.
Use close-ups to show texture and construction, not to invent details absent from the original.
Use fit or lifestyle views only where the category permits them.
Check measurements against the actual garment before preparing a size graphic.

Secondary images still have content restrictions. They are not a free pass for reviews, unsupported badges or misleading claims. Use the available slots to answer different questions instead of repeating the same view. Uploading an image does not guarantee that Amazon selects it for display.

Check the exported file separately

The listed range is 500–10,000 pixels on the longest side, with 1,000px+ longest-side guidance for zoom. Listed formats are JPEG, TIFF, PNG and non-animated GIF. Review resolution metadata, colour and encoding as well as dimensions.

Review AI edits and category details

Compare an edited result with the source photo. Check the actual product, not only whether the background is white. Reject an edit that invents pockets, changes the print, removes a closure or alters the length.

AI-generated people need a metadata check

Amazon's guide says that images with photorealistic people generated entirely by AI need the contains-synthetic-performer keyword in the XMP dc:subject field before upload. It distinguishes these from real people edited with AI, non-photorealistic characters, and images without people. Read Amazon's AI-person metadata instructions. Do not assume an image editor or this checker has added the tag.

If Amazon rejects an image

Read the specific error in Seller Central. Check the uploaded file and image slot, then review the matching technical or category requirement. A missing zoom feature is not the same as an upload failure. A successful upload does not prove that the image will appear or that the listing will stay searchable.

Keep the original and exported files so you can compare the corrected version. Recheck the listing after Amazon processes it. Do not infer the cause from a generic checker score.
